ABC 50-Mile & Fairhaven Frosty!

CIM isn’t the only race up this weekend – we have two other extremes to talk about – a 50 miler and a 10k! Early Saturday morning, December 7 Maria Dalzot will take off on her final race of the year, and a big one at that – The Anza Borrego/Cuyamaca 50 Mile Run, affectionately referred to as the ABC 50 in San Diego, CA. The course is point-to-point and follows along some of San Diego’s best and most scenic trails, from the Sunrise Trailhead down into Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, ascending Stonewall Peak, dropping down into Oriflamme Canyon and finishing at Stagecoach Trail RV Resort & Campground. Maria has completed some of her best, most voluminous training to date, and we’re excited to see her compete at the 50-mile distance.

Shelby Traeger will stay local, racing GBRC’s Fairhaven Frosty (10k) on Saturday, December 7. The race is a great community event as she builds up to her next race, the sold out Deception Pass 50k! The 5k course incorporates Chuckanut Drive, Old Samish Hwy, the Interurban Trail, and finishes at Fairhaven Park; the 10k repeats the first loop. BBay Running and GBRC have created a program for runners to recycle their old running shoes; participants of the Fairhaven Frosty can bring their old shoes to the race, and BBay will recycle them to keep them out of our landfills.
