On top of training and competitive racing, BDP is passionate about giving back to their community and sharing the joy of running, not only through their individual professions as PA’s, PT’s, Imaging Associates, Teachers, Coaches, Mothers, Fathers, Nutritionists, Students, Research Specialists, Admins and on, but in offering their personal time to support organizations and events the likes of which are listed below.

K2K Race

What started in June 2015 as a 2k between Kulshan Brewery’s newest location on Kentucky St. to their original brewery on James St, has now evolved into a 5k, hosted by BDP. An awesome running event for all…runners, non-runners, beer drinkers and kids. The race is USATF sanctioned, with a point-to-point route on paved roads, and includes a pint (or soda) at the finish. Check out more about the K2K Race HERE!

Girls on the Run (GOTR)

We are proud to support and volunteer with Whatcom County’s Girls on the Run organization, at the bi-annual 5k’s. Designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength, the Girls on the Run curriculum inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms. Throughout the season, the girls make new friends, build their inner confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique. Running is incorporated throughout the curriculum to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health.

Girl.Strong.

A non-profit that encourages character-based learning, leadership and fun. It teaches girls that who they are as people is more important than the results they might garner off the field; encourage the development of character skills (whether individual or relationship based); teaches about the various leadership roles available through participation in sports and the outdoors, and how these can be applied to other areas of life. Along with this, they encourage curiosity, exploration, trying new things and getting girls outside of their comfort zones in order to better discover who they are, what brings them joy, and ultimately, what makes them happy. We were honored to work alongside Girl.Strong. in conjunction with National Girls and Women in Sports Day this year, volunteering at their first event, where athletes, professionals and youth were able to interact, teach specific skill sets, and encourage strength in females.

Lake Padden Trail Half

For several years the Lake Padden Trail Half served as the USATF Trail Half National Championships, drawing plenty of national and local talent to the race, including our own Maria Dalzot. BDP has managed volunteers and spirit stations along the course to encourage athletes and competitors alike.

Rebound of Whatcom County

For many of us thoughts of childhood are filled with happy memories of meaningful relationships that have helped us become who we are today. Rebound exists to bring hope and healing to kids and families whose childhoods have been affected by abuse, poverty and neglect. At Rebound kids and families get a second chance to experience the memories many of us take for granted. Working in partnership with local agencies, area churches, local businesses and several hundred volunteers, Rebound brings hope and healing through such services as a 7-week summer program, parent education, middle school groups, and support groups for elementary aged kids and their parents. BDP worked with Rebound through the 7-week summer program, helping train a group of kids for the Al Coyle Community Trail 5k in conjunction with the Lake Padden Trail 1/2 Marathon.

Lighthouse Mission

The only walk-in rescue mission between Everett and Vancouver, BC, the Lighthouse Mission helps Whatcom County’s men, women, and children get back on their feet. Collectively, BDP goes through a lot of shoes and at each season’s end, collects new or slightly used shoes for the Lighthouse Mission. Winter is the most essential season to provide footwear and warm clothing. If you are interested in donating your own used, slightly used or new gear, email us and we’ll combine efforts!

Bellingham Bay Marathon

We are proud to be partnered with the Bellingham Bay Marathon, providing pacers for those with aims for a Boston Marathon qualifier or PR and are so excited to help individuals reach their goal. If you are interested in pacing or want to know more about pacing options at BBM, please email us at bellinghamdistanceproject@gmail.com!
