Preview: St. Patrick’s Day Races

Coming up this weekend are a slew of St. Patrick’s themed races, including: Runnin’ O’ the Green (Bellingham), St. Pat’s Day Dash (Vancouver, BC), and the F5 St. Patrick’s Day Dash (Seattle, WA), plus several others. We encourage you to participate; whether you’re just getting into running, just getting back into shape, in the middle of training for something, or at the peak of your fitness, you can use one of these races as a grounds for measuring your current level of fitness, as a workout, or as an all-out effort. Below we’ll break down the stats of each:

Runnin O the Green

Runnin’ O’ the Green – Saturday, March 12, 2016 @ 10 am in Bellingham, WA. Events include a 5k walk/run and an 8k walk/run; both races will start and finish at the same location near Depot Market Square. Early packet pickup will be available at Klicks Running & Walking (1431 N. State St.) the day before from 2-7 pm. Chip timing. You can sign up online until March 10th for the 5k HERE and for the 8k HERE. Day of registration is available ($35). Strollers are accepted, dogs are not. The top 3 males and females in each race will be given engraved glass trophies. Race Map.

St. Pat’s Day Dash – Saturday, March 12, 2016 @ 9:30 am in Vancouver, BC. Events include a 5k walk/run and a team 5k (5+ people). This year’s race is in combination with the BC 5k Champs and will include a talented field of competitive elites. Where: Stanley Park Pavilion, Stanley Park. Chip timing. Packet pickup is Thursday, March 10th from 4:00-8:00 pm and Friday, March 11th from 12:00-6:00 pm at Denman Running Room (679 Denman St., Vancouver, BC). Race day packet pickup is available for out-of-towners from 8:00-9:00 am inside the Stanley Park Pavilion. There’s a renowned after party with green beer, Granville Island brews, good food, a DJ, bar, and lots of decor. Awards are given to the top 10 overall males and females, to the fastest mile male and female, as well as a bonus for the course record, and for best costumes. Course Map. Register HERE.

32nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dash – Sunday, March 13, 2016 @ 8:30 am. Events include a 1k Leprechaun Lap for kids 10 & under and a 5k walk/run. The Dash “fills 5k of Seattle streets with a rippling ribbon of green, starting and finishing at the Seattle Center, winding through downtown Seattle along 4th Ave., filling the entire street with Irish spirit.” There is a wave start. Course Map.
