USATF Trail Marathon Nat’l Champs & Trail 1/2!

Saturday, November 2 – Brittany Grant competed at the USATF Trail Marathon Nat’l Champs, taking 12th! The unique marathon course traversed narrow canyons with towering vertical walls, along rim-tops with vista views, on single-track, rugged jeep trails, sandy washes, “Moab-style slickrock,” old mining trails, and a couple sections of fixed line traverse. Starting at the Pritchett Canyon entrance, racers followed the Pritchett Canyon Trail for near 6 miles of rugged jeep track before Hunter Canyon Rim Trail, Kane Creek Road, eventually up and over the “Scorched Earth Wall,” Captain Ahab” single-track, Amasa Back jeep trail, Jackson Trail single-track, Kane Creek drainage, through a cave, through an arch, and so much more before making it to the finish line. Brittany was in awe of Moab’s natural beauty and loved getting to race alongside talented trail runners amidst a great race atmosphere. Brittany’s boyfriend, Andrew Wise was 9th in the men’s field.

The 1/2 course followed the first 9 miles of the marathon course starting at the Pritchett Canyon entrance, before climbing up the switchbacks of Kane Creek Rd. and descending into the depths of Kane Creek Drainage.
