Sun Mountain 50k, SoCal Big Bear Beast & the Rhody Run 12k!

Saturday, May 18 – Over on the eastern side of the North Cascades, on the edge of the Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness, and above the Methow River Valley lies the grand Sun Mountain 50k start line. Sounds like a fairytale; the characters of which include Katelyn, Alex and Shawn. They pranced (haha) along fields of wildflowers (not on, that would be rude), were hugged by the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Cascades, and took in calories along singletrack like modern day gretel and hansels. Craig Fowler of North Vancouver, BC won the race outright, several minutes ahead of 2nd place, finishing in a time of 4:16:19. Finishing her first 50k, Katelyn (who also won the Sunflower Trail 1/2 in Mazama on May 4th), took 1st F/6th OA in 4:54:06! Sean was 21st in 5:18:10, and Alex was 27th in 5:23:15! Full Results HERE!
