Our friends over at NW Endurance Events are hosting the Baker Lake Classic 25K this weekend, Saturday, September 28, followed by the Baker Lake 50K the following, on Saturday, October 5th. Both races allow registration up until the day before the race.
BAKER LAKE CLASSIC 25K – Baker Lake, WA
Set against stands of old growth trees draped in lichen and moss and douglas firs, the Baker Lake Classic 25K course evokes an appreciation for nature, in the aftermath of growth post Mt. Baker eruption and the gnarly 1843 forest fire. “You can still see the burned snags of the cedar tress that once dominated the area. From north to south, the trail contours the eastern shoreline of Baker Lake, offering glimpses of Mt. Baker. All along the trail spot western trillium, twinflower, foamflower, coralroot and twisted stalk.”
The 25k will take off from the Kulshan Campgrounds at Baker Lake, WA. The race involves transportation to the start line, and buses leave at 8:00am. For information regarding Transportation and Parking see HERE!
If you don’t exactly have your trail race legs under you yet, this 25k would be an excellent workout or LR effort as you gear up to the next race! There’s nothing more thrilling than changing up your training and the monotony of what you know to incorporate some of Washington’s lesser-used gorgeous trail systems.
Sign up before tonight, Friday, September 27 @ 6:oo pm HERE to get in!
BAKER LAKE 50K – Baker Lake, WA
Taking place against the same backdrop as the 25K, the Baker Lake 50K (31.2 miles) is twice as fun, literally. The 50K will have 5x aid stations that vary with products by way of water, soda, Gu Brew, Gu, Snacks, toilets, etc. The finish line (my favorite) will have hamburgers, veggie burgers, soup, chips, snacks, soda, water, electrolyte replacement drinks and other beverages.
