Millersylvania 50k, Woodinville 5k & the Sofia Milstead Memorial 10k!

Katelyn at the start line of the Millersylvania 50k

On Saturday, June 15th at Millersylvania State Park in Olympia, WA, Rainshadow Running hosted their Millersylvania 10k/30k/50k. Our girl Katelyn, who is on an absolute tear, won the 50k outright. Finishing 1st OA in 3:46:01, a little over a minute on 2nd place and 1st Male finisher, Luke Zentner of Olympia. Full Results HERE!

The Millersylvania 50k course is considered relatively flat, with about 300 ft. of elevation gain per each 10k loop. It meanders through dense and mossy old growth forest, past lakes and alongside babbling creeks. The 50k would include 5x 10k loops. “The race was created as a fundraiser for Interfaith Works Emergency Overnight Shelter, which provides critical support for the homeless community of Olympia and Thurston County. A portion of the proceeds from each race entry goes directly to the shelter.” Over the past few years, a donation of $17,000 has accumulated!

The race also includes a 5k run/walk and benefits the Sofia Milstead Foundation, which helps to raise money for scholarships to graduating Lynden High School seniors, helps Whatcom County High School students pay their way to Young Life’s Camp Malibu, and to help LHS students in need participate in the activities that Sofia loved. The race brings about a day of fun, friendship and community to remember this amazing woman who touched so many. For more information on Sofia, the memorial run and the foundation please see HERE!
