Shelby is a Nursing Instructional Technician at Bellingham Technical College (BTC). She received her B.A. in Biology from Carroll College in 2014. Following graduation, she did two years of research at the National Institute of Health & has completed 2.5 years of Med School at UW. Shelby has always been passionate about service; running has been a platform for her to actualize this passion. In college she organized a charity 5k race called, “Run for the Well of It,” to raise money for Lifewater International. Additionally, after qualifying for the Boston Marathon, she organized a cause called, “Miles for Mia,” which helped support a family whose daughter, Mia, was born with Wolf Hirschhorn syndrome. In her enthusiasm for running, Shelby has been able to accomplish many things with great purpose.
Outside of work she enjoys running, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Shelby’s fondest running memory was running the Boston Marathon – “The energy from the spectators was incredible and it was the only marathon I’ve ran where I had adrenaline throughout the race and never hit the wall!”
