Alex Giebelhaus

For the last three years Alex has taught Social Studies at Squalicum and Sehome high school. He recently started a new role as an Educational Technology coach at Squalicum high school, helping teachers integrate technology into their classrooms effectively. As an educator, Alex invites students to engage in the outdoors and live a life based on sustainability and purpose. When he’s not in the classroom he likes to be on the trails as much as possible with his dog, Luka. As a student of Western Washington University, he knew early that he wanted to make Bellingham his home because of the abundance of outdoor opportunities and local breweries. When he’s not racing ultras, he likes to do local adventure races with friends and explore the mountains.

One of Alex’s favorite running memories was having the opportunity to guide some ultra-runners along the wonderland trail circumnavigating Mt. Rainier. As a guide for Aspire Adventure Running he is afforded the opportunity to get people into the mountains who normally would be intimidated by the logistics. Witnessing the perseverance that some of his runners had was really inspiring and he was happy to be part of the experience.
