Josh is a Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at Western Washington University. Beyond the classroom, he runs a research lab that studies the developmental impact and therapeutic benefits of cannabis, as well as a freelance writer who specializes in cannabis science (and was recently named High Times’ Top 100 Most Influential People in Cannabis!). In his free time (when not running), Josh enjoys chasing his cats around the house (as punishment for waking him and the family up in the middle of the night), dragging his daughter to brew pubs, strategizing how to avoid coming last in fantasy football, and listening to podcasts.

One of Josh’s fondest running memories was feeling great at mile 24 in the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon, confident that he’d reach his goal of 2:35; he went on to PR in 2:34:11. Upon finishing, covered in chills, he found that he’d taken 3rd place. “Hard to beat the feeling of reaching your goal and celebrating with my parents along the Lake Michigan waterfront on a beautiful fall day.”
