COMING THIS WEEKEND – USARA AR Nat’l Champs, Cascade Super 50 Mi, Tahoe Trail & BBM!

September 27-28 – “The USARA Adventure Race National Championship is the ‘Heart & Soul’ of Adventure Racing in the United States. Teams of 3 compete in USARA regional qualifying events across the U.S. for a chance to battle it out for the title of USARA Adventure Race National Champion. Teams are required to navigate a series of checkpoints using only a map and compass to guide them while transitioning between several disciplines such as: Trail Running/Trekking, Mountain Biking, Paddling and Orienteering. These teams will have to push the boundaries of human endurance and teamwork just to finish. Winning will require extreme willpower, mastery of all disciplines, and a little luck.”

Scarlett will be racing on Team Quest (#16) which includes Brent Molsberry and Dusty Caseria, two badasses from Whatcom County. The race takes off today, Friday, September 27 @ 8:00 am and will finish sometime tomorrow. Check back for results on how Scarlett and team Quest did!

Saturday, September 28 – Alyson will be competing at the North Lake Tahoe Trail World Championships! NLTT is a “…no-obstacles foot race through rugged wilderness…Located a short ride from Lake Tahoe, this epic venue was once host to the 1960 Olympic Winter Games…The Village at Squaw Valley is a year-round destination…Elevation is one of the most defining elements of the Tahoe venue, starting at a surface elevation of 6,224 feet and working upwards of 9,000 feet…” This romantic race comes with cozy cabins in the area, Grover Hot Springs (excellent for soothing leg muscles post race), Fannette Island in Emerald Bay where you can kayak to (at the top of the island is a remnant of an old tea house), opp to bike the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail, hang glide off Slide Mountain in a “stylish” blue jumpsuit…on top of kicking off the World Championship weekend with the host, Athletic Brewing Co.’s friday dinner which will offer raffle prizes on top of it all! Sounds like one excellent party.

Saturday, September 28 – Shawn will be racing the Cascade Super Ultra 50M in South Cle Elum, WA. As a new edition to the Cascade Super Series, the point-to-point course goes from South Cle Elum to Cedar Falls and is considered fast with only 600′ of total elevation gain and 1500′ of total elevation loss. Check out the start list HERE!

Sunday, September 29 – Our beloved Bellingham Bay Marathon ensues. As mentioned in our previous blog, BDP hosts the pacers, which we absolutely love to do. We love our pacers and know the racers appreciate them too. This year we edited the pace group times to accommodate for the 5:00 minute reduction from previous Boston Marathon Qualifying times. See us at the start lines of the Marathon and Half in neon shirts with neon signs!

On top of pacing, many of our athletes will be competing at BBM! Tanya will be racing the 5K, Derek will be racing the 10K, Alma & David will be racing the BBM Half, Shelby will be racing the Marathon! and Chris, Josh, Jonathan, Amber and Courtney will comprise a Relay team for the BBM Marathon Relay!

Good luck to our athletes and to all of you racing this weekend!
